About the brand
Tailor Brands started in 2014 as an AI logo maker and now files LLCs, bundling formation with branding, a website builder and AI guidance in one dashboard. LLC filing starts at $0 plus state fees on the Lite plan, which processes in up to 14 business days; the paid plans file in one business day. Essential and Elite are annual subscriptions rather than one-off fees, and the company forms LLCs only: no corporations, nonprofits or DBAs.

Our Verdict
Tailor Brands files an LLC for $0 plus state fees and hands a first-time founder a logo, a domain and a working website in the same session. Nothing else on this chart bundles formation and branding that tightly. The trade-off is structural: the two plans worth buying are annual subscriptions, not one-off filing fees, and that changes the arithmetic in year two.
Key Takeaways
- Lite is genuinely $0 plus state fees with no renewal, but takes up to 14 business days to file.
- Essential ($199/yr) and Elite ($249/yr) file in 1 business day and renew every year.
- Registered agent service covers all 50 states, but the price is not published on the product page.
- Over three years, the cheapest plan plus registered agent runs about $597, against $497 at ZenBusiness and $289 at Northwest.
- Tailor Brands discontinued a set of LLC formation advertising claims in May 2025 after a challenge at BBB National Programs' National Advertising Division.
The service suits one reader precisely: somebody launching a first venture who wants the company registered and the brand assembled in one afternoon, and who will actually use the website and logo tools they are paying for. Its Trustpilot score is 4.8 out of 5 across 16,929 reviews, the figure shown on the company's own pricing page on 18 August 2026.
It suits a different reader badly. If you already have branding, or you just want a company on file cheaply, you are buying an annual subscription to a toolkit you will not open. That reader should look at the free Lite plan, or at Northwest, where the recurring cost is less than half.

Products & Pricing
Tailor Brands sells three LLC plans. All three include the state filing and a 100% accuracy guarantee. What separates them is filing speed, compliance support and how much branding software comes attached.
| Plan | Service fee | Renewal | Filing speed | Compliance | Branding tools |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lite | $0 + state fees | Does not renew | Up to 14 business days | Not included | Not included |
| Essential | $199 + state fees | $199 a year | 1 business day | Annual report filing | Not included |
| Elite | $249 + state fees | $249 a year | 1 business day | Annual report filing | Domain, website, 8 logos |
All figures read from the Tailor Brands pricing page on 18 August 2026.
State filing fees sit on top of every row, set by the state rather than the provider, and they run from $35 in Montana to $500 in Massachusetts. Our guide to registering a business breaks that down.
Lite, $0 plus state fees
The free plan covers the filing and little else:
- LLC formation and state filing
- Processing within up to 14 business days
- 30-day trial of bookkeeping and invoicing
- Business coaching platform
- Sales and payment tools
There is no renewal on Lite, which matters. It is a real free tier rather than a trial that converts. If you can wait a fortnight and you already have a registered agent, this is a legitimate way to get an LLC on file for the cost of the state fee alone.
Essential, $199 a year plus state fees
Everything in Lite, plus:
- 1-business-day expedited processing
- Annual compliance: mandatory report filing and updates
- Operating agreement
- Funding search tools
- $30 Amazon gift card
Essential is the plan most buyers land on, and the one to read the small print for. The $199 is a yearly subscription covering the compliance service, not a one-off filing charge.
Elite, $249 a year plus state fees
Everything in Essential, plus:
- 1-year free domain registration
- DIY website builder with online store
- 8 professionally generated logo variations
- Digital business card
- Social media post maker and business card tools
- $50 Amazon gift card
The $50 gap between Essential and Elite buys the entire branding stack. Judged only on what a domain and a website builder cost separately, that is the best-value step in the whole lineup, provided you use them.
In-depth review
AI guidance and Funding Search
Tailor Brands markets itself as AI-guided, and the pricing page carries that badge next to "100% accuracy guaranteed" and "Faster filing". In practice the AI does two jobs: it walks you through the formation questions in plain language, and it powers a newer feature aimed at money rather than paperwork.
That feature is Funding Search, announced on 19 May 2026. It scans grants, tax credits and non-loan funding against your business profile. The rollout data in that announcement is the interesting part: 80% of the users engaging with it are solopreneurs, and 55% had not launched their business yet.
Read that second number carefully. More than half the people using the funding tool have no company yet, which tells you what this product is really for. It is a customer acquisition feature aimed at people still deciding, not a financing service for operating businesses. Useful as a starting map of what exists, not a substitute for talking to a lender or an accountant.
Funding Search is included on Essential and Elite, not on Lite.
Ease of use and filing speed
The interface is the strongest thing about this service, and the reason it scores where it does on our chart. It is built for somebody who has never registered a company: one question per screen, legal jargon kept to a minimum, and no stage that assumes you already know what an organizer or a registered agent is.
The company's ten-minute claim for the formation flow is realistic for a straightforward single-member LLC in one state. If you already know exactly what you need, the guided pacing can feel slow. That is the trade being made.
Filing speed splits cleanly by plan:
- Lite: up to 14 business days
- Essential and Elite: 1 business day
One qualifier applies to every provider in this category. These are the times to prepare and submit your paperwork, not to receive an approved LLC. The Secretary of State adds its own review time, which varies by state and by season, and no formation service controls it.
Branding tools: what you actually get
Tailor Brands began in 2014 as an AI logo maker, and the branding side is still the part it does better than any formation competitor. The Elite plan includes:
- A domain name, free for the first year
- A DIY website builder with online store functionality
- 8 generated logo variations
- A digital business card
- Social media post templates and business card design tools
The honest assessment: these are competent starter assets, not a designer's work. The logos are template-driven, and the website builder is closer to Wix's simpler tiers than to a custom build. For a founder who needs to look credible on day one and has no budget for a designer, that is the right trade. For a business whose brand is the product, it is not.
What makes the bundle work is location rather than quality. Having the domain, the logo and the filing in one dashboard removes three separate signups at exactly the moment a new owner has the least patience for them.
Registered agent and add-on pricing
Tailor Brands acts as registered agent in all 50 states, and its registered agent page describes the standard service: documents scanned and uploaded to your dashboard, with text and email alerts when something arrives.
What that page does not do is tell you the price. Read on 18 August 2026, it discusses the market range for registered agent services generally, "$99 to $300 a year", without publishing what Tailor Brands itself charges. Independent reviews of the service put it at $199 a year, and that figure is consistent across them, but it is not a number the company publishes at the point a buyer would want it.
That is worth flagging because the registered agent is the recurring cost in this category, not the filing. Northwest publishes $125 a year on the page itself and includes the first year free with a $39 filing. ZenBusiness publishes $199 a year and currently discounts the first year to $99. Both let you do the arithmetic before you commit.
Other add-ons follow the same pattern. Third-party reviews price the EIN service at $99, which is worth knowing chiefly because the IRS issues an EIN free in about ten minutes if you apply yourself.
The renewal question and three-year cost
Here is the number that should drive the decision, and it is not on any pricing page.
Essential and Elite are annual subscriptions. A founder comparing "$199 at Tailor Brands" against "$199 at ZenBusiness Pro" is comparing two subscriptions, but a founder comparing it against Northwest's $39 filing fee is not comparing like with like at all. Below is the three-year service cost using each provider's published prices, cheapest formation plan plus registered agent, excluding state fees, which are identical whoever files for you.
| Provider | Year 1 | Year 2 | Year 3 | 3-year service fees |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Northwest | $39 filing, agent free | $125 | $125 | $289 |
| ZenBusiness | $0 filing + $99 agent | $199 | $199 | $497 |
| Tailor Brands | $0 filing + $199 agent | $199 | $199 | $597 |
| LegalZoom | $0 filing + $249 agent | $249 | $249 | $747 |
| Swyft Filings | $0 filing + $596 agent | $596 | $596 | $1,788 |
Swyft Filings bills its registered agent at $149 per quarter rather than per year, which is why its row runs so far ahead of the rest. The Tailor Brands row assumes the free Lite plan plus registered agent. Choose Essential instead and you add $199 a year on top, taking the three-year total to $1,194. Choose Elite and it is $1,344. Neither is bad value if you use the compliance service and the website, and both are pure waste if you do not.
The practical test is simple. Will you still be logging into this dashboard in month fourteen? If yes, Essential or Elite earns its keep. If you only want the company registered, take Lite and buy the registered agent wherever it is cheapest. Our side-by-side comparison puts the plans in one table.
The 2025 advertising challenge
In May 2025, Tailor Brands voluntarily discontinued a set of advertising claims for its LLC formation services following a challenge at the National Advertising Division, the advertising self-regulation body run by BBB National Programs. The challenge was brought by ZenBusiness, a direct competitor that also appears on this chart.
The specifics matter more than the headline. Tailor Brands told NAD it had permanently discontinued all of the challenged claims, and it also changed its purchase flow: it stopped using a "Show more" link on the site and permanently discontinued the free trial for its invoicing and bookkeeping service. Because the claims were already withdrawn, NAD did not rule on whether they were substantiated. For compliance purposes the discontinued claims are treated as though NAD had recommended they be discontinued.
Two pieces of context keep this in proportion. First, participation is voluntary and Tailor Brands engaged with the process rather than contesting it. Second, the challenger was a competitor, and competitors file these challenges as a commercial tactic; ZenBusiness itself went through NAD later the same year, in October 2025, over a comparative claim of its own.
What the record changes for a buyer: read the plan page rather than the marketing page, and check what a trial actually converts to. Worth noting on that point, the pricing page we read on 18 August 2026 lists a 30-day bookkeeping trial on all three plans, so the offer appears to be running again in some form. Read the terms at checkout.
What Tailor Brands cannot do
Tailor Brands forms LLCs. That is the whole list, and the company's own product menu confirms it. Read on 18 August 2026, the products it lists are LLC services, registered agent, EIN, licenses and permits, sales tax permit, insurance, banking, logo maker, domain, website, business email, tax services, bookkeeping, legal documents, trademark and business cards.
What is absent:
- No corporation formation. No C corp, no S corp filing product.
- No nonprofit formation.
- No DBA registration.
If you need any of those, LegalZoom and Swyft Filings both handle multiple entity types. For a standard single-state LLC, which is what most readers of this page are forming, the limitation never comes up. It matters if you expect to file a second entity of a different type later and want one provider holding everything. Our explainer on what a limited liability company is covers which structure fits which situation.
Refunds and cancellation
This is the weakest area of the service, and the contrast with the rest of this chart is sharp.
ZenBusiness and Swyft Filings both publish a 60-day money-back guarantee on service fees. LegalZoom publishes a 60-day satisfaction guarantee. Tailor Brands publishes no equivalent guarantee. Its terms state that fees are non-refundable except where specified, with refunds handled case by case. Independent reviews report a 30-day window to cancel a subscription for a full refund, and a $29 service fee deducted from approved refunds.
Since the company does not publish a headline guarantee, treat a Tailor Brands purchase as harder to unwind than the alternatives, and decide before you pay rather than after. If a money-back guarantee is a deciding factor for you, that is a genuine reason to pick a competitor.
Is Tailor Brands legit?
Yes. Tailor Brands Ltd was founded in 2014 by Tom Lahat, Yali Saar and Nadav Shatz, with Saar as chief executive. It has raised roughly $70.6 million across four funding rounds and employed around 295 people as of May 2026. It started as an AI logo generator and moved into business formation later, which explains why the branding tools are more mature than the filing service around them.
Scale is worth putting in context. The US Census Bureau recorded 491,941 seasonally adjusted business applications in March 2026 alone, of which 144,952 were high-propensity applications, in its Business Formation Statistics release of 8 April 2026. Formation services compete for a slice of roughly half a million monthly applications, and the marketing intensity across this category, including the NAD case above, follows directly from that.
The 4.8 Trustpilot score across 16,929 reviews is real and displayed on the company's own pricing page. Read alongside the refund terms, the picture is consistent: customers like the product, and the friction shows up when somebody wants to leave.
Customer Service
Support runs through in-dashboard live chat, email at support@tailorbrands.com and a published phone line on (332) 286-2770, backed by a searchable help centre. Because formation, branding and compliance all sit in one account, the support team can see your filing status when you ask about it, which is a practical advantage over services where the filing and the tooling live in separate systems. Our ranking methodology explains how support factors into the score above.
Live Online Chat
In-dashboard chat is the fastest route to a formation specialist during business hours.
